Dexter Dog Diary, Week Two, Friday

Friday (cuma, 18 mart, 2010)

This morning she is dancing at Remzi’s Café in Esentepe. How do I know? I am there: Yes, riding in the car; parking outside Saraç supermarket; dropping her off; collecting a new 19-litre bottle of water and even stopping off near that rather over-steep ramp to see if any bits came of the car when it was grounded the other day. (None did, by the way). I love it in the car and am a bit miffed when I don’t go on the collection trip after dancing.

After lunch - surprise, surprise – its time for a walk! I really fancy the seaside and send out strong vibes for this option. It is all settled; then he changes his mind and decides to show her the ace route that I showed him yesterday. This time he remembers the collar and lead so, when we reach the highway there is no repeat of his unseemly behaviour of yesterday. We cross over and find ourselves on the old coast road. We take the left fork and stroll down into the cove. Not only is it beautiful, with the usual mind-blowing range of rocks, but there is also a freshwater stream where a thirsty dog can stop and drink. I have a paddle in the sea and join them for a climb along the rocks.

Soon we are retracing our steps, but only as far as the hairpin bend. We resist the temptation to explore the charming little fly-tip area (there are so many) and continue in a generally eastward direction along the old road. They start to recognise familiar buildings and, beyond those, further inland, can see the apartment. A Lynx Apartment Management (our site) 4x4 stops. Alex recognises me and introductions are exchanged. X asks Alex to have a word with the pool man about the mosquito larvae in open-air Jacuzzi. As Alex drives off, Y suggests that the request went in one ear and out of the other. I think she is wrong: I believe the request was denied any access at all; it never even entered one ear.

There is the usual rigmarole with the collar and lead as we pass the cows and again at the highway. Then, we are home and tea is served promptly because they are off to a Quiz Night at the Tumba restaurant in Esentepe. If I had my way, his team would be called “the Dimbos” but I learn from their self congratulatory crowing, on their return that, somehow, Y and his other team-mates, Tim and Helen, have dragged X into second place. Later, the TV goes on and, during the “natural-breaks”, she is making preparations for a picnic to which I am invited! Tomorrow cannot come soon enough.
