Her Secret

A song was required for the 60th birthday of a dear friend.

As the song took shape, I realised that the same sentiments are true for all of you people who accentuate the positive and enjoy what life has to offer!

Verse 1

People often ask me – do you know her secret?

How is it that she can stay so young?

Is it in a bottle? Does she take a tablet?

Hardly dare to tell them that they’re wrong. Yes…

Refrain

I found out, no shadow of a doubt

Her secret is that she loves life.

Verse 2

Ponies dogs and people – a fine church with a steeple

All of them bring pleasure to her eye

The beauty of the country – the glory of the city

Enjoying all the world as it goes by. Yes…

I found out, no shadow of a doubt

Her secret is that she loves life

Release

Something that you’re bound to find, she’s a girl who knows her mind

Air a view she does not rate and very soon she’ll put you straight

Verse 3

Up and down the river – walking on the seafront

Any month and a sunny day will do

Sitting in the sunshine – working in the garden

Home that always welcomes me and you. Yes…

I found out, no shadow of a doubt

Her secret is that she loves life

Something that you’re bound to find, she’s a girl who knows her mind

Air a view she does not rate and very soon she’ll put you straight

Verse 4

Playing with the children – off to see a castle

Visit a museum or a zoo.

Having fun with music - doing what you fancy –

Always have a go at something new. Yes…

I found out, no shadow of a doubt

Her secret is that she loves life

Coda

I found out and now the truth is out

Her secret is that she lives life
